His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

Submitted on 09 April 2021 by Helen Crossland

It is with great sadness that I write these words for Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

He has been a loyal and hard working servant to both the Queen and country.  His passing is a great loss to his family and the country as a whole.

As Town Mayor, and on behalf of the Town of Newark, I place on record my condolences to the Queen on the loss of her husband.

Under the current restrictions to our normal way of life, it will not be possible for people to mark his death as would normally have been the case.

I do understand however, that Buckingham Palace has established an online Book of Condolences; for anyone wishing to use this facility the link to the website is given below:

The Royal Family ask that members of the public consider making a donation top a charity instead of leaving floral tributes.

To do this, please see https://www.royal.uk/donations
