Newark Town Council Budget 2017/18

Submitted on 06 March 2017 by Helen Crossland

Newark Town Council has now set its budget for next year; the Council Tax charge has been increased by 1.9% which is broadly in line with current inflation rates.  For people living in a Band D house this will mean an increase of £1.99 per annum.

Councillor David Lloyd, the Leader of Newark Town Council said:

"Next year's budget includes some significant initiatives aimed at improving the services offered by the Town Council and investments to improve the Town.  These have been possible thanks to the continuing financial strength of the Town Council and the prudent financial management which has been in place for many years.  The Town Council remains aware that Council Tax bills have to be paid by the local community and endeavour to keep any increases to a minimum.  I think the increase of £1.99 for a whole year is an acceptable balance between the wish to invest in improved services and protecting Council Tax payers from excessive increases."
